With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching, the stress can start to build up knowing that Christmas is around the corner. Sometimes, we truly don’t get to enjoy the holidays with our families without worry because of this stress. Sitting down and thinking about what you have to be thankful for can help you kick your stress to the curb. Here are some things that we have in our lives that we can give thanks for!
This is the most obvious thing that the majority of us have to be thankful for. Our families are the people that are typically there for the long haul. They stick by our side through thick and thin, with unconditional love. Many of us don't even think about giving thanks to our family. They are part of our everyday lives, and we just expect them to always be there. Some people, however, do not have a family and the luxury of having that unconditional love. Hug your family and tell them that you appreciate them. They'll never forget it.
Through our everyday lives, we gain many relationships with many different people. This can be friends, spouses, coworkers, etc. Each person in our lives gives us a different form of satisfaction and happiness. Regardless of their role, each relationship we have plays a different part in our happiness. Thank those people for what they do and let them know how they make your life better. Even the people who make small differences for you each day would love to know about it.
If you are alive, you should be thankful. If you are healthy, give thanks. This is definitely not something that everyone gets to experience. Many people in our lives struggle with their health. Each person’s version of being “healthy” can vary. If you're able to get out of bed each day and do the things you want to do, you may consider yourself to be in good health. That in itself is something to be thankful for.
Do you sit down and share a meal with family or friends for the holidays? If you do, you are experiencing a huge blessing. Many people say a prayer before they sit down to eat, or give thanks for the food on the table. This is a common theme with Thanksgiving. Why do we give thanks for food? There are thousands of people in the world struggling with starvation that don't have the luxury of a plentiful table. Because of this, we can give thanks for the blessing of a bountiful meal.
This may be something that you have never thought about during the holiday season. Many of the men and women fighting for our country and freedom are not able to be home for the holidays. Take some time to think about this, as it may help you to understand the important role that the military play in our lives each day. They are the true unsung heroes.
You may be thinking, “Why would I be thankful for money?” But, are you able to wake up each day and grab a coffee before work? Maybe you buy yourself lunch each day? If this is something that you are able to do, you're blessed with the opportunity to give yourself things that you enjoy. Also, if you are in a career that you enjoy, you can also be thankful for that as well. Many people work a 9 to 5 job that they do not like, just to put food on the table or provide for their families.
Thanksgiving is truly a time to be humble. It is a holiday to spend with family and friends to do away with the stress. With Christmas approaching, it is hard not to think about money, especially if we have to purchase the food for Thanksgiving as well. If you are struggling to stay afloat during the holidays and it is affecting your happiness, you may want to look into some financial options available to you. For example, car title loans can help many get through a rough patch. This option can allow you to actually enjoy the holidays and relieve some of the added stress.
